‘It’s like he’s playing in the school playground’ — teenager Kylian Mbappé rules the Champions League with his blistering pace and skill

Kylian Mbappé, the most expensive teenager in world football, bossed a Champions League match on Wednesday evening.

Mbappé has made a big impact less than two months after signing for PSG. He has stretched defences with blistering speed, remarkable skills, and created and scored some stunning goals.

Anderlecht was the latest team to be swept aside by the 18-year-old. Mbappé needed just three minutes to show the 19,000 Anderlecht fans at the Constant Vanden Stock Stadium precisely why PSG will pay £166 million ($219 million) for his services.

The 18-year-old spotted teammate Marco Veratti in a good position for a one-two pass. Using clever movement and a burst of pace, Mbappé accelerated past two defenders to slam home the opening goal.

The clip also shows Mbappé setting up PSG’s second goal just before half-time, heading the ball in Edinson Cavani’s direction for the striker to nod home.

PSG’s other super signing also contributed, with Neymar scoring the third in a 4-0 rout. Angel di Maria scored the final goal late on.

Though there were four different scorers in the PSG win, it was Mbappé who attracted all the praise in the BT Sport studio after the match.

“He’s an absolute superstar already,” former Champions League winner Rio Ferdinand said. “Some of the stuff this kid does… he’s clinical. It’s like he’s playing in the school playground.

“He’s trying things, playing tricks, and it’s the speed at which he does things. His decision-making, his header to pick out his strike partner Cavani, he could have scored three goals. A great, great footballer.”
