Jaguar has introduced a new high-performance model of its XJ sedan with the XJR575, which has been painted to look like a submarine. It can now max out at 186 mph in just 44 seconds, which is pretty quick for a submarine.
Of course Jaguar didn’t say they painted it to look like a submarine, I just don’t think it’s difficult to infer that today’s trend of satin grey OEM paint jobs are clearly influenced by military hardware.

If you’re at war with physics, the new XJR575 is just the type of hardware you may be looking for, especially if you want to bring the Captain’s quarters along with you. The official specs for the newest, fastest XJ are 575 horsepower and 517 lb-ft of torque from the 5.0-liter supercharged V8. As you know, top speed is reached in 44 seconds, and the now 0-60 mph takes 4.2 seconds.
The car is also unique from the rest of the XJ range with its custom hood vents, red brake calipers, 20-inch gloss back wheels, quilted interior seating and the choice of two colors called Satin Corris Grey and lovely Velocity Blue. There are no photos of the XJR575 in Velocity Blue, which I personally take issue with.

Your out of context executive quote of the day comes from Jaguar Design Director Ian Callum via the press release, who said “It can go very quickly…”. Thank you, Ian.
