JJ Grey & Mofro – ‘The Sun Is Shining Down’

I know ‘The Sun Is Shining Down’ from the season finale of Netflix’s third season of House of Cards, which opened with this song playing over shots of the beautiful landscapes of New Mexico.

It’s a great song that deserves more than the two minutes you get from the episode. There’s something patriotic, or perhaps Americana about those horns, and the jazzy soulfulness can cut deep if you let it.

I was reminded of the song as I caught up with season three (the worst season of the American House of Cards by far) because season four drops March 4th.
