Have you ever wanted to take an iconic Land Rover Defender through its paces on an off-road track without going through the trouble of finding one in the U.S. and then maybe getting it seized by the feds? Jaguar Land Rover North America will help you scratch that British off-road itch with its newly announced Land Rover Experience Heritage Program.
For $1,500 (or $1,200 for a half-day) you can spend a full day driving various Land Rover models through off-road courses in California, North Carolina, and Vermont. That includes the classic Defender.

Land Rover will also provide coaching to anyone wanting to learn about the Defender or brush up on their off-roading skills. Land Rover says that the tracks at all three Experience Centers will have hills to climb, streams to cross, rivers to ford, and tea to sip.
The real draw of this program is the opportunity to drive a Defender, which was only officially sold in America for a few short years, in real-world off-road conditions like it was designed to do—not meander around a mall parking lot or sit in a collection like most Land Rovers in the United States today.
Now, $1,500 seems to be a lot of money to drive on an off-road course. For that same amount of money, you can buy a few Chevy Blazers on Craigslist and crash them into trees all day long, but that probably doesn’t have the same refined feel as driving a Land Rover.
