We’ve been hearing Samsung’s Galaxy S8 would feature a large screen without compromising the Galaxy S7’s small footprint. Now, a case maker has apparently unveiled the dimensions for the upcoming flagship, corroborating the reports about a near bezel-less device.
According to the leaked dimensions, via GSMArena, the Galaxy S8 Plus will measure in at 152.38 x 78.52 x 7.94mm. That’s slightly taller and wider than the Galaxy S7 Edge—but not by much. The image above illustrates what these two devices may look like side by side.
What’s notable about the image is the Galaxy S8 Plus has a relatively small footprint while expanding the screen size to 6.3 inches, according GSMArena. As a reminder, the Galaxy S7 Edge sports a 5.5-inch screen.
If that wasn’t impressive enough, Samsung has actually managed to make the Galaxy S8 smaller than the Galaxy S7, while expanding the size of the S8’s display. According to the dimensions, the Galaxy S8 will sports a 5.7-inch screen in a body that’s smaller than the existing Galaxy S7.
The purported dimensions of the Galaxy S8 will be 140.14 x 72.20 x 7.30mm.
There’s virtually no bezel
As we’ve seen in previous leaks, the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus will feature virtually no bezel, which makes for some beautiful hardware. The Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge were already two of the best looking devices on the market, but Samsung appears to have outdone itself.
Additionally, Samsung has seemingly eliminated the home button, complete with a fingerprint sensor that’s apparently embedded underneath the display. With that, we can likely expect the death of the capacitive buttons in favor of onscreen navigation.
Samsung is expected to unveil the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus at Mobile World Congress at the end of next month, so it won’t be long until we learn more.
