Lenovo launches ZUK Edge smartphone with Snapdragon 821

Lenovo today unveiled its new ZUK Edge smartphone powered by Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 821 processor. The attractive device has super slim bezels, and a fingerprint sensor that’s embedded beneath its cover glass.

Thanks to those narrow bezels, the ZUK Edge’s 5.5-inch 1080p display makes up an impressive 86.4 percent of the front of the phone. There is a home button with fingerprint scanner situated beneath it, but it’s hidden away under the cover glass.

The ZUK Edge is powered by a Snapdragon 821 chip and up to 6GB of RAM. It ships with 64GB of internal storage as standard, but there is no microSD card slot. There’s a 13-megapixel camera on the back of the device, and an 8-megapixel camera on the front.

The device uses USB-C, features a headphone jack, and boasts a 3,100mAh battery. It ships with Android 7.0 Nougat pre-installed with Lenovo’s own user interface over the top.

The ZUK Edge has only been confirmed for China for now, where it will start at 2299 RMB (approx. $330) with 4GB of RAM, and 3499 RMB (approx. $360) with 6GB of RAM. Lenovo is also offering a gift set that includes the 4GB model with earphones and a case designed by Korean star MinHo Lee for 2499 RMB.

We don’t know where the ZUK Edge will land next, but Lenovo already offers ZUK devices in Europe and other markets, so we expect it to expand its reach soon.
