A new Porsche 911 Turbo built on the new 992 generation of the iconic car is coming, and this video of it testing around the Nürburgring proves the new car will be at least 80 percent pure turbo noise.
That’s a very good thing, and it’s a great tease for the car considering we still don’t know exactly what engine Porsche is going to plop in it,nor how much power it will make. Whatever it is, it’s going to sound like a vacuum hose stuck to your forearm, but like, in a good way.
Video of the car running the ‘Ring comes to us courtesy of Automotive Mike on YouTube. The addition of the spoiler and the obviously widened track gives the car away as a higher performance model, so we’re either looking at the Turbo or maybe even the Turbo S. When I first played the video, the clattery exhaust on startup at the beginning was incredibly alarming.
And then I got to the 1:20 mark in the video and it sounded like the car was opening a vortex as it went by, and I was much less alarmed. It sounds really good! And with the additional of a little spoiler, it looks pretty good too under all that camouflaging.
It also looks damn fast.
