- Saints rookie Marshon Lattimore had the best defensive highlight of the day on Sunday, coming down with an unlikely interception that some are calling the “butt pick.”
- After Lattimore dove on a defensive play, the ball was tipped by a receiver and landed on his backside, giving him the opportunity to secure possession.
- The pick helped the Saints to a 23-13 win over the Falcons and a guaranteed spot in the 2017 postseason.
Saints cornerback Marshon Lattimore is having himself quite a December.
After being named Rookie of the Week for his performance last Sunday against the Jets, the first-round draft pick came down with one of the most impressive interceptions of the season during Sunday’s matchup against the Atlanta Falcons.
The pick came in the second quarter, with the Falcons driving close to midfield. Matt Ryan dropped back to throw on third down as Lattimore sprinted down the sideline to keep pace with wide receiver Marvin Hall. Hall crossed toward the center of the field and Ryan threw to him as Lattimore dove to keep coverage. Hall then tipped the ball in the air, and the loose ball landed on Lattimore’s backside, where the defender was able to reach around and grab it to complete the interception.

The play is already being called the “Butt pick,” or “Butterception,” in different corners of the internet. But no matter what it’s called, Lattimore’s pick is one of the most entertaining and most unlikely turnovers of the season.
The pick also helped the Saints onto their 23-13 win over the Falcons, which secured New Orleans a playoff spot.
