The Xbox One’s Elite Controller is really expensive. It sells for $150, though it packs some great customization options and a feel that is, according to those who have used it, absolutely incredible.
The Elite Controller is also in short supply. It’s tough to find at retail without having to buy a new console or game, and it doesn’t look like supply will be up anytime soon.
Speaking with Windows Weekly, Microsoft CMO Chris Capossela said that the company “totally underestimated” the demand of the product. He explained that “if I could have built 10 times the number I built, I would have.”
Yeah, you think? Amazon, for instance, boasts a marketplace full of third party sellers hocking the Elite Controller for at least $50 more than its MSRP. The prices get even steeper on eBay. How much of this lack of supply exists because of folks trying to make a quick buck? It’s hard to say.
Whenever the Elite Controller is back in stock, I’ll be considering a purchase. Everyone I speak with says it’s amazing.
