Remember those Moto X renders we saw at the end of last month? Turns out, they may actually be pictures of the Moto G5 Plus, which just leaked out in full thanks to one lucky re-seller in possession of the unannounced device.
According to the seller, the device sports a 5.5-inch Full HD display, Snapdragon 625 chip, 4GB of RAM, and a 13-megapixel camera. Fairly run of the mill specs, to be sure, until you start digging deeper.
The listing also claims the device sports a fingerprint sensor, 32GB of storage, and a 3,080mAh battery, which is sizable for a mid-to-low budget device. The apparent model number of the Motorola handset is XT1685, which we’ve heard bandied about over the past few months.
The device takes some design cues from the Moto Z, right on down to the camera hump. It’s not the most attractive phone on the market but it certainly has its charm.
The Moto G line is fantastic
The point of Motorola’s G lineup has never been to dazzle, but to provide consumers with an affordable device that offers a high-end experience. It’s difficult to say what the experience of the Moto G5 Plus will be like without actually using it, but chances are it builds upon previous Moto G device. Which is to say, it’s going to be great.
Pricing, release date, and other information still hasn’t been unveiled. There was a lot to like about the Moto G4 and Moto G4 Plus, which offered similar features (fingerprint reader, big display, excellent battery life), so we’re going to go ahead and preemptively declare the G5 Plus a winner.
For what it’s worth, the G4 Plus is currently being offered through Motorola’s website for $279 (previously $299). We can likely expect the G5 Plus to be offered for the same price when it officially launches.
