NES Classics in stock at GameStops this morning, in-store only!

This might be your last chance to get an NES Classic for a loved one (or yourself, I suppose) in time for the holidays. GameStop’s around the U.S. have received extremely limited stock.

The catch? This offer is only good in-store, and the availability of the microconsole will vary by location. You’ll need to either stop by your local GameStop or place a call to check.

Here’s a statement from GameStop.

GameStop has again received another limited shipment of Nintendo NES Classics today through Thursday. Only available in store, not online. GameStop recommends that customers call their local stores to determine local quantities.

I called around a few minutes ago, and the store nearest to me had, in fact, received two new consoles. They were already gone. Oy, talk about distribution problems.

The NES Classic has been absurdly hard to find

The system has routinely sold for at least $200 on eBay every single day since its initial launch in December. It’s also been replenished in extremely short supply, often entirely without notice for potential consumers. It randomly pops up for sale through some retail outlets for minutes at a time, at the most.

To say Nintendo bungled the demand for this retro gaming machine would be an understatement.

The NES Classic Edition has been hot.
