Ni No Kuni II lets you build your own kingdom, Level-5 taking it Nintendo Switch slowly

Thanks to Minecraft, every developer has tried to cram a construction element into their video game over the last half decade. From Fallout 4 to Dragon Quest Builders to even Super Mario Maker, there is obviously value in allowing players to create their own gaming world.

And Ni No Kuni II is also stepping up with a building mechanic. Not just a localized village, though, but an entire kingdom. As confirmed by Level-5 CEO Akihiro Hino in an interview with Vandal.net, the highly anticipated JRPG will introduce many new mechanics, including the ability to build an entire kingdom.

There will be many new features. From the fact alone that we moved from PlayStation 3 to PlayStation 4, it will not be a simple RPG, and will introduce a new system focused on creating a kingdom. So yes, there will be many differences.

Level-5 will develop for the Switch also, but not yet

Vandal.net also pressed Hino for information on his company’s plans with the Nintendo Switch, and Hino replied that it will be taking its time with Nintendo’s new console.

We plan to make games for Nintendo Switch, but I think it’s very important to find out the best way to get the most out of the console. For that reason, we won’t have any titles at launch, but we’ll work with it as soon as we figure out how to take advantage of it.

Much of Level-5’s recent success comes from the Yo-kai Watch franchise, and no doubt, it’s going to want to continue that success. However, with Nintendo saying it is sticking with the Nintendo 3DS after the launch of the Nintendo Switch, don’t expect Level-5 to jump ship on the 60 million people who own one as well.

Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom is currently in development for the PlayStation 4.
