As usual, Dragon Quest creator Yuji Horii spoke a little too soon when it comes to revealing secret information about his popular franchise. He mentioned back in the summer that Dragon Quest XI was coming to the Nintendo Switch, but both Nintendo and Square Enix remained mum on the topic.
Until today that is. In a blog post on Nintendo’s official Japanese website, the company finally acknowledged the game and stated that it will be coming to its newest console.
It should be noted that this title is also planned for release on Nintendo Switch.
Will the Switch version be more like the PS4 or Nintendo 3DS build?
Now, the big question is which of the two builds the Nintendo Switch version is going to look like. Will it aim for the Unreal Engine 4 open world beauty of the PlayStation 4 version, or will it pack itself down into the smaller, two-screen Nintendo 3DS version.
My guess is leaning towards the former because Nintendo clearly wants its console to look as close to highest graphical standards as possible, but neither Square Enix nor Nintendo are talking yet.
We also don’t yet know if the game is coming to North America at all, even if Square Enix promised to be more open with the franchise around the world. All we know is that the game is coming out in 2017, and it looks fabulous!
