Nixon’s first Android Wear watch can survive 100 meters underwater

Most water-resistant phones and wearables are designed to hold up when submerged in about a meter of water for 30 minutes or less. Then there’s the Nixon Mission, a new smartwatch from the California company that can survive at up to 100 meters underwater thanks to an impressive 10-ATM rating.

The Mission is Nixon’s first smartwatch. It runs Android Wear and packs Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon Wear 2100 processor, which the company designed specifically for new wearables. It also boasts a circular AMOLED display with a raised stainless steel bezel designed to keep your screen safe.

Nixon is putting a big emphasis on customization, too. You can pick from a variety of colors for the Mission’s bezel, frame and band. The company is also offering special watch faces designed to mimic some of its own popular watches.

The Mission should look good on anyone’s wrist, but it’s clearly meant to target a certain type of thrill seeker. Nixon will even include two apps that keep you up to date on conditions for skiing, snowboarding and surfing around the world.

The Nixon Mission is set to launch this fall for $400, and it should be on display at Baselworld 2016, which kicks off tomorrow in Switzerland.
