Harry Kane has been on fire lately. In his past 10 appearances for Tottenham Hotspur and England, the 24-year-old has scored 15 goals.
Kane recently told journalists that the secret to his success is down to a New Year’s resolution he made over nine months ago.
The striker hired a personal chef and has taken nutrition more seriously, according to The Independent. Since then, he has served up treat after treat on the football pitch.
Principally, Kane made two big changes to his diet: He abstains from alcohol throughout the football season and does not eat carbohydrates before games.
“We’ve got a good plan going and it seems to be working,” Kane said of his chef. He added:
“The precise schedule of the meals, relating to training and matches, is important. You could eat healthily all week and then carbs before a game, and that could make your body go into shock because you’re not used to it. So maybe eat higher carbs sometimes, lower other times, making plans around training.
“When you’re playing Saturday, Wednesday, Saturday there’s not a lot of time to train. So it’s about making those little gains in other ways: Ice baths, stretching, nutrition. That keeps as you as fresh as you can be. It’s a big part of football nowadays.”
Kane is next in action on Saturday, when Spurs host Bournemouth in a Premier League match at Wembley Stadium in London.
