The YouTuber Salomondrin owned a McLaren Senna for all of 11 days, putting 400 miles on it in that time before it caught fire. How that fire started is a mystery for now, though Salomondrin—legal name Alejandro Salomon—says in a new video that the car “burned itself.”
Salomondrin has previously said that the car was not involved in a crash, adding in the new video, “More will come out about this as soon as investigations start and all that stuff.”
“My car set itself on fire,” Salomondrin said. “For anything bad that happens in life just know that there’s something good coming up.”
Salomondrin also says he has video of the blaze which he intends to release at some point. He also said he has insurance, and was looking into seeing how McLaren could help.

Salomondrin is a controversial figure in the supercar world, but it sucks anytime a car of yours—McLaren or not—gets destroyed. Only 500 Sennas are to be produced, listed at $837,000, with the last one sold for more than triple that at auction in December 2017.
I emailed McLaren to see if they could shed some more light on this situation and will update this post if I hear back.
