I’m getting strong Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts vibes from the just-announced Pioneers for the PC platform, and that has me really excited.
Pioneers is being created by a sort of new studio called Lightbulb Games. I “sort of new” because the team behind Lightbulb is the same one that made up Press Play. Press Play created games like Kalimba and Max: The Curse of Brotherhood for the Xbox and Windows platforms. They were a subsidiary of Microsoft until Microsoft shut them down in March of this year.
So, that team decided to form Press Play, and Pioneers is their first game. Here’s what they have to say about the game.
PIONEERS lets you build complex machines out of simple blocks.
Your goal is to become the best Pioneer in the universe. Use your imagination to create the most fun, crazy and awesome machines you can think of. Explore worlds and compete with your friends!
Sounds like the vehicle building in Nuts & Bolts to me. I totally get that Nuts & Bolts wasn’t the game Banjo fans wanted, and I agree with that sentiment. However, creating and driving or flying the vehicles was good fun, and I can totally get behind more of that from Lightbulb.
Pioneers does not have a release date yet. As that comes, we’ll have the news for you.
