One console to rule them all. The PlayStation 4 is but step away from covering the lands in darkness and ruling all creation as we know it. At an absolutely silly 40 million units, it is one of the fastest selling video game consoles of all time, and if Sony has its way, its reach will be growing even faster.
The figure points to a five million unit increase in sales since we last checked in with an official sales figure back in January. President and Global CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment Andrew House chimed in with a small thanks and self-pat on the back:
We are truly grateful for the enormous support from our fans and partners across the globe, which helped us achieve this significant milestone in such a short span of time. We will strive to deliver even more exciting gaming experiences to our users, further driving the momentum and accelerating the expansion of the PS4 platform and its business this fiscal year by offering an unparalleled line-up of games, bringing our virtual reality system, PlayStation VR, to market and providing ground-breaking features and network services.
Now, we must toss the console in the fire. Send it back from whence it came! Who will come with me? Well, we can wait to save the world after Final Fantasy XV and Persona 5 launch at least, right?
