Salt and Sanctuary is not only one of the strongest indie releases of the year, it also achieves exactly what it set out to when it entered development: become a 2D alternative to the popular Dark Souls series. It does that so well to the point of borderline copyright infringement! I only kid, of course.
It’s also now available on the PC. After launching as a PlayStation 4 exclusive earlier this year, the game has just made its highly anticipated leap onto Steam. The game is available at a discount for $16.19 until next Tuesday when it leaps back up to a normal price of $17.99.
We’ve seen plenty of 2D games try to pull of the Dark Souls formula, but this is one of the few that actually gets it right. Check it out if you’re interested.
