Samsung is expected to reveal the high-tech Gear Fit 2 next month, but today it’s launching something a little more simple. The company’s new Charm wearable can track your steps and help you keep tabs on incoming notifications.
The Charm is available in gold, black or “Rose Quartz.” It comes in two pieces. There’s a polished square tracker with rounded edges and what looks like a metal frame, along with a matching wristband. It features a small 17mAh battery that Samsung says should last 14 days per charge.
The Charm’s main function is to track your steps. It can share that information directly with any smartphone running Android 4.4 or up over Bluetooth, or store it internally if you decide to go for a walk and leave your phone at home. It also comes equipped with an LED light that flashes when you get a notification, and you can even customize certain colors to different alerts using the Charm app.
Samsung’s newest wearable is available now in Korea, Italy, France and Russia for about $45. The company says it’s launching in other countries soon, but hasn’t confirmed if that will include the U.S.
