Samsung’s long-rumored foldable smartphone may finally launch in 2017. A new rumor claims the device, allegedly called the Galaxy X, could be one of five flagship phones released by the company next year.
The Galaxy X will apparently feature a foldable display with a 4K resolution according to one Weibo tipster. Samsung has been developing the device for a while under the “Project Valley” codename and it’s already secured a number of related patents.
The rest of Samsung’s alleged lineup for 2017 is pretty predictable. The company is reportedly prepping the Galaxy S8, Galaxy S8 Edge, Galaxy Note 7 and Galaxy Note 7 Edge handsets, too. All four devices will allegedly feature upgraded 2.5K displays.
Rumors of a foldable Samsung smartphone have been floating around for years and it looks like the device may finally be in sight. Of course, it could be over a year before the Galaxy X arrives (assuming the rumors are true at all). In the meantime we’re still waiting on the Galaxy Note 6, which is expected to debut in mid-August.
