Someone stole two Razer prototypes from a booth at CES

On Sunday night, two prototypes were stolen from Razer’s CES booth. The word comes from Razer CEO Min-Liang Tan on Facebook.

The prototypes that went missing weren’t identified. The company unveiled the insane Project Valerie, a laptop with three 4K monitors and a built-in mechanical keyboard. They also showed off Project Ariana, a sort of projector that uses Chroma software to, as they say, “extend the gaming experience into an entire room.” Both were regarded as two of the more interesting pieces of tech from the show.

Two prototypes were stolen, though. Could be one of the Project Valerie laptops and one of Project Ariana projectors, or perhaps two of one specific prototype.

Razer’s looking for information, if you have it

Here’s the bulk of Tan’s post on Facebook. He offers an email address if you have information. There’s even a quick blurb in it about potential espionage:

At Razer, we play hard and we play fair. Our teams worked months on end to conceptualize and develop these units and we pride ourselves in pushing the envelope to deliver the latest and greatest.

We treat theft/larceny, and if relevant to this case, industrial espionage, very seriously – it is cheating, and cheating doesn’t sit well with us. Penalties for such crimes are grievous and anyone who would do this clearly isn’t very smart.

If you were at the show and/or if you can provide us any information, please do reach out to us at legal@razerzone.com – all information provided will be kept in the strictest of confidence.

This is serious business. Here’s hoping Razer tracks down the missing tech.
