T-Mobile has finally rolled out Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow for the BlackBerry Priv, almost two months after it reached unlocked devices. The release brings big new features and improvements, including significantly better battery life.
After first installing Marshmallow on your Priv, you probably won’t think much has changed. And it hasn’t on the face of it, but there are plenty of big improvements under the hood that you will notice over time.
Not only does Marshmallow make the Priv snappier, but it also makes massive improvements to battery life — particularly standby time. It also adds Android’s new app permissions system, and Google Now on Tap for quick access to information.
BlackBerry has made some nice improvements to its own apps and services, too — but again, they’re mostly changes you can’t see.
This update comes with build number AAF153, and according to T-Mobile’s announcement, the rollout began on Monday, June 13. You may have already received an update notification, then, but it could take a while to reach all users.
You can also check to see if the update is available manually from within the Software Update section of the Settings app.
