T-Mobile announced Friday that it’s offering a free tablet to folks who sign up for a qualifying smartphone plan this weekend. It’s the latest “Get a tablet on us” deal from the carrier, and features the LG G Pad F8.0, which has an MSRP of $240 but can be found for much less.
The G Pad F8.0 is a slightly dated product with a 1.2GHz processor, 16GB of storage and an 8-inch 1280 x 800-pixel display. There are better tablets out there, no doubt, but free is free, right? Basically, you’ll buy the LG G Pad F8.0 from T-Mobile and then the carrier will pay you back with a mail-in rebate and a prepaid card within 8 weeks, so long as you keep the T-Mobile service you signed up for. The carrier said it’s valid with “any new mobile internet plan,” which start at $10 per month.
Keep in mind, however, that this tablet is heavily discounted elsewhere, too. AT&T currently has it for $0.99 so long as you sign up for a data plan as well.
