Keeping in line with its recent upswing in popularity, Tales of Berseria will follow in the footsteps of its predecessors by getting a quick turnover on its localization. Bandai Namco has confirmed the latest in its JRPG franchise will see a North American release in early 2017.
The game will hit Japanese shelves on Aug. 18 and will be available for the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, and PC. North Americans will have to wait roughly six months, a relatively short wait compared with both Tales of Xillia games, and will only get the PlayStation 4 and PC versions of the game.
Tales of Berseria is the 16th game in Bandai Namco’s long-running franchise. It has enjoyed a boost in popularity thanks to the absence of other traditional JRPG giants like Final Fantasy and Persona. However, with both primed for a grand return to the video game scene, it remains to be seen if Tales‘ new-found fame can last in the face of stiff competition.
The early 2017 release date makes Tales of Berseria safe from both Final Fantasy XV and Persona 5’s launches in North America, but it will be going head to head with both in its home country of Japan.
Tales of Berseria will release for the PlayStation 4 and PC in early 2017.
