December and January have been great for demos on the PlayStation 4. Over the winter holidays, we got excellent introductions into NieR: Automata and Gravity Rush 2, and mid-January has delivered us yet another solid glimpse into a future release.
Tales of Berseria, the latest in Bandai Namco’s long-running JRPG franchise, has a demo that is available now for the both the PlayStation 4 and the PC. Download it and play it to your heart’s content!
Tales games should always have a demo
Bandai Namco’s Tales games are generally known for their cute anime storylines, colorful characters, and most of all, their inconsistency. Some of the games, like Tales of Symphonia, are classics and masterpieces that can hang with the JRPG genre’s best. Others make huge missteps and tend to be forgotten within the year.
The previous game, Tales of Zestiria, had a lot of promise and expectations heading into it, but I have a hard time finding fans who remember it as fondly as either of the previous Tales of Xillia games.
For that alone, please download Tales of Berseria before playing. I haven’t heard too much from it since its launch in Japan, and maybe that’s not the best sign of its quality. Either way, Bandai Namco is giving you the option to find out for yourself, and I suggest you take it.
Tales of Berseria will be released for the PlayStation 4 and PC on Jan. 24.
