Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutants in Manhattan purged from Steam, PSN, Xbox Live

Activision is once again struggling with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle license. Games from the franchise are subject to frequent de-listing, and the most recent game, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutants in Manhattan, has met the same fate.

The game is no longer listed on Steam, the PlayStation Store, or the Xbox Live Marketplace. No official announcement of the de-listing was issued by Activision, and it comes as quite a shock seeing that the game was only available for 8 months.

Activision’s Amazing Spider-Man games have been removed from each online retail shop as well. The only way to get these games from here on out will be the physical copies.

Plenty of Ninja Turtle games have been de-listed before

Licensing issues have plagued plenty of these comic book based games. Without question, the largest victim of this problem is Marvel vs. Capcom 2, one of the best fighting games ever made, which no longer has a license to be distributed by Capcom.

In the realm of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, the biggest loss we’ve seen is a port of the original arcade game pulled from Xbox Live Arcade. To nobody’s disapproval, we also lost Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles in Time Re-Shelled, a substandard remake of the Super Nintendo classic.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutants in Manhattan was met with a lot of hype due to the developer, Platinum Games, scoring a critical hit with its previous licensed game, Transformers Devastation. However, it was not met with the same reception and does not enjoy the same continued reputation.
