It’s not just the awesome Audi wagons anymore. Now, we can add a Kia to the list of cool things we don’t get over here. Meet the 2019 Kia ProCeed, a sleek wagon that will only be available in Europe. I’m not mad about it. At all.
We first saw the ProCeed Concept last year at the Frankfurt Motor Show and now it’s been brought to reality. Weirdly, Kia’s press site calls the new ProCeed a shooting brake, which I don’t completely agree with, as the car has four doors. But semantics aside, just look at it! Look at the shape! Sleek and streamlined, it has a rear that looks like a taller Porsche Panamera Sport Turismo.
The Kias in general have looked really sharp as of late, from the Stinger sport sedan down on to stuff like this. This must be what happens when you poach a bunch of European car design superstars.

Available exclusively as a GT-Line or GT model, the all-new ProCeed will have a few choices of engines. The GT-Line will have either a 1.0-liter turbocharged engine, good for 118 horsepower, a 1.4-liter turbocharged engine, good for 138 HP or a 1.6-liter diesel, good for 134 HP. All three engine options can be fitted with either a six-speed manual or a seven-speed dual-clutch.
The GT model will have a 1.6-liter turbocharged engine, good for 201 HP. This will only get the dual-clutch, unfortunately.

And it looks pretty alright inside. Kia hasn’t ditched the stupid “floating” display infotainment screen yet, but everything else looks sophisticated. From what we’ve experienced with our time with the Stinger, Kia interiors aren’t yet at the levels of European luxury, but they are functional and logically laid out. You don’t really need anything more than that.
The new ProCeed will be debuted publicly at the 2018 Paris Motor Show, happening next month, and will go on sale at the beginning of next year.
I’ll be over here, across the Atlantic, screaming into the void.
