The highest-rated CEOs in the UK have been announced by recruitment company Glassdoor.

Employees who chose to take part anonymously reviewed their CEOs on the Glassdoor website.

Winners came from a range of industries, including technology, retail and consulting. Only one woman made the UK’s top 28. But that is partly a reflection of the demographic of major UK companies: in June 2016, only 9.7% of FTSE 100 companies and 5.6% of FTSE 250 companies had female executive directors.

New entries on the list included Anglian Water’s Peter Simpson, as well as Nationwide’s Joe Garner and Rolls-Royce’s Warren East.

“We know that CEO approval ratings correlate to overall employee satisfaction and trust in senior leadership, which contributes to long-term employee engagement, ultimately helping an employer’s recruiting and retention efforts,” said Glassdoor CEO and co-founder Robert Hohman.
