According to a tweet by Reuters reporter Bernie Woodall, the EPA is about to accuse Fiat Chrysler of excessive pollution on 100,000 diesel vehicles.

The tweet reads:
U.S. EPA TO ACCUSE FIAT CHRYSLER OF USING SOFTWARE THAT ALLOWED EXCESS DIESEL EMISSIONS IN ABOUT 100,000 U.S. VEHICLES: SOURCES
The EPA just announced a press conference for today to “take questions on a recent development regarding a major automaker.”

At the moment we have no other details. In lawsuits, Fiat Chrysler and its supplier Cummins have been accused of under-reporting diesel emissions using a “defeat device.” It’s also worth mentioning that the 2017 Grand Cherokee and Ram EcoDiesels (which use a VM diesel, not a Cummins) have yet to be certified, despite it already being 2017.
So it isn’t yet clear which vehicles the EPA is targeting, but we’ll likely find out from the press conference.
More as we have it.
