Top Gear America, the franchise’s second swing directly at the U.S. market, officially airs next month and the first trailer is finally here. The good news is that it looks like Top Gear. The bad news might be that it looks like Top Gear.
Top Gear America is not to be confused with Top Gear USA, the latter having gone dark last year after a six-season run on The History Channel as hosted by Rutledge Wood, Tanner Foust and Adam Ferrara.

I don’t think anyone expected Top Gear America to make a radical departure from the British Top Gear’s successful formula of opposing-personalities-on-wacky-adventures-plus-cars. So if you’ve been enjoying that, I bet you’ll dig the show’s new American iteration.
As a fan of cars, personalities and wacky adventures myself, I think the new show looks at least as entertaining as any other car show that’s been on since Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May invented this style of presentation.

For this new show, auto journalist Tom “Wookie” Ford, actor Bill Fichtner and pro racer Antron Brown will step up to hosting duties. From this brief clip, we can see that they’ll be messing around with a Lamborghini Hurican, an Acura NSX, some Cadillacs, a BAC Mono, and a Polaris RZR among other interesting machines, I’m sure.
