Porsche has expanded its lineup of mid-engine two-seat sports cars with the new T trim for both Boxster and Cayman 718 body styles. Both models make use of the same 300 horsepower turbocharged flat four as the standard 718, but with a few more sport oriented chassis modifications to increase the fun quotient. For example, the 20mm lower PASM suspension option has never been offered paired with the base model’s lower horsepower engine.
Much like the 911T, these new 718 T models are lauded as the choice of enthusiasts. Along with the aforementioned standard PASM suspension, the T models also receive active drivetrain mounts, sport chrono package, a sport exhaust, a short shifter, a special 20 inch wheel package, Porsche Torque Vectoring, and a mechanically locking differential.
Inside the car, you’ll see black door pulls instead of handles, special Sport-Tex Porsche Sport seats, and a cubby instead of a radio. Of course, you can option the radio back in, for free, if you choose.

The new 2019 Porsche 718 models are fitted with a gasoline particulate filter, and the T model’s radio delete and lightweight door pulls negate the added weight. That doesn’t sound like much weight, frankly.
Like the 911 T, 718 T models receive grey mirror shells and model variant declarations on the lower segment of the doors. Black tailpipes denote the T model from the rear.
The T models, much like the GTS models that came before, are little more than special standard equipment added to an existing model. Ts can be purchased at a minor discount over a similarly equipped base model.
The Porsche 718 Cayman T will cost 63,047 euros in Germany and the 718 Boxster T starts at 65,070 euros, including value added tax and country-specific equipment.
