Unboosted steering. What surely felt like unboosted brakes. And a central seating position, with a second seat in the back, just like a jet fighter. This is the Nissan New Mobility Concept, and it’s absolutely absurd. But if it’s also the urban mobility concept for the future, it’s an absolute joy.
I should clarify that when I say “the future,” what I really mean is “the present, if you live in Europe.” Because while Nissan is calling this the “New Mobility Concept,” it’s actually a little car-ish thing called the Renault Twizy, and it’s already sold across the Atlantic Ocean for around €6,000.
We got the chance to drive one in New York City, an experience that we streamed live, and between the enormous buses, the perplexed pedestrians, and the cops who actually seemed like us for once, it was a blast. Even if it is electric, with a top speed of only 25 MPH.
