The Dallas Cowboys have apparently reversed course and have now decided that Tony Romo will play on Sunday against the Philadelphia Eagles, according to Adam Schefter and Todd Archer of ESPN.

Rookie Dak Prescott is expected to start the game, however, both Romo and Mark Sanchez are expected to get playing time. Previously, only Sanchez was slated to get action in addition to Prescott.

There has been a lot of debate over the last few weeks about whether or not Romo should get some playing time during the regular season in case his experience is needed during the playoffs.

This would be the first action for Romo in a game since he injured his back during a preseason game. Prescott has started every game since, leading the Cowboys to a 13-2 record and home-field advantage throughout the playoffs. Prescott needs one more win to set the NFL record for wins by a rookie quarterback.

Romo last played in a regular-season game last Thanksgiving when he broke his collarbone in a game against the Carolina Panthers. This season’s injury was a compression fracture in his back.
