A lot of people have been trying to bring guns on planes lately. Loaded and chambered guns.
The Transportation Security Administration confiscated a record 96 firearms from carry-on bags in airports around the country last week. Of the guns confiscated, 85 were loaded and 26 had a round chambered. The last previous record of 89 firearms found in one week was set just last month. Okay.

Flyers who bring guns to security can get fined as much as $11,000. Guns are only allowed in checked baggage if they are in locked hard-sided containers, and are, of course, UNLOADED.
But fear not—TSA said these “all too frequent” occurrences usually happen from passengers that had “no ill intent”. That doesn’t mean these well-meaning travelers don’t end up with a citation or even an arrest.

“Just because we find a prohibited item on an individual does not mean they had bad intentions; that’s for the law enforcement officer to decide,” TSA stated in a news release. “In many cases, people simply forgot they had these items.”
I’ve reached out to TSA and will update the story when I’ve heard back. In the meantime, beware of “harmless” carriers of loaded guns in airports.
