We’re still waiting for Microsoft’s rumored Surface Phone, but in the meantime VAIO’s new Phone Biz may just do the trick. The device, which was recently announced in Japan, sports a sleek design, solid specs and Windows 10 Mobile software.
The VAIO Phone Biz features a classy aluminum frame with soft corners and a slight curve in back. It also comes equipped with a respectable 5.5-inch 1080p display, a 13-megapixel rear camera and 3GB of RAM. A mid-range Snapdragon 617 chip raises some red flags, though Microsoft recently added Continuum support for the processor. That means you’ll be able to hook it up to a keyboard and mouse to, theoretically, do some work. Unfortunately, we haven’t had a great experience with Continuum in the past, even on more powerful processors.
VAIO plans to sell the new phone SIM-free in Japan for about $400. It’s unclear if the company has any plans for a U.S. launch, though with new VAIO laptops already coming to America it’s possible the Phone Biz could be headed our way as well.
