Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is still months away from release, but Vin Diesel is giving us a hint as to what expect from Baby Groot this time around.
Vin Diesel is currently out doing press for Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk, and Collider couldn’t resist asking the actor what differences we can expect from his beloved character in the upcoming Guardians sequel.
Yeah, there is a difference. He couldn’t be more naive as Baby Groot. I always think of the Groot that we saw on the first Guardians as a college-level Groot, so he’s not fully grown yet, but he’s a man. And once he sacrifices himself at the end of the movie, now he has to start all over, so to speak, but we’re gonna see this goofy, adorable, baby Groot thing running around the screen and just learning as he goes.
There had been much debate amongst fans of exactly how many of Groot’s memories survived in the new form we saw at the end of the last film, but it certainly sounds like everything is starting over for the loveable tree. He wasn’t exactly the brightest character in the first film – think back to the scene of trying to capture Peter Quill – so one would imagine he will be goofing up a lot of the adventure this time.
Considering how much fans loved his brief appearance at the end of the last film, seeing a ‘goofy, adorable, baby Groot’ is sure to be a big hit with fans when Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 hits theaters on May 5, 2017.
