Goofy YouTube supercar goofball Salomondrin decided to pit his own 887-hp Porsche 918 Spyder with the lighter, meaner Weissach Package against a 1,088-hp Rimac Concept One in a drag race. The all-electric Croatian car made the hybrid German look obsolete.
Racing Salomondrin in the Concept One was none other than Rimac Automobili founder and CEO Mate Rimac, who was so unfamiliar with American drag strips that it took him a while to figure out how to use the sticky track to his advantage.

Rimac explains in his write-up of the track battle:
Racing on a prepared drag strip was a first for me – I have never seen such a track in person. I thought that the grip is going to be on such insane levels that there won’t be any slip at all. I had no idea what to expect – my thoughts went from “We will brake some records here today!” to “Will the driveshafts survive the grip?”
Salomondrin met Rimac during Monterey Car Week, who introduced him to the Concept One and the full story of Little Croatian Supercar Company That Could. The Concept One wasn’t built to tick a box next to “save the planet,” or whatever crunchy granola nonsense reason birthed the legions of un-fun electric cars we’ve seen over the years. It evolved out of Rimac’s own wicked fast record-breaking electric BMW E30.
Especially cool is that each quarter mile run only cost the Concept one 1.96 kWh of power, with the six runs and two test runs only brought the car down from 95% charged to 72%, per Rimac’s write-up. Rimac likened the car’s total power usage to that of only 0.396 gallons of gasoline for all of its runs. Progress!
