Watch these M&Ms dissolve in hypnotizing timelapse

The Beauty of Science released a new video this week that shows what happens when an M&M dissolves in water. You wouldn’t think something so familiar—and tasty—could look so beautiful. But seeing the color from these chocolate candies dissolve is quite captivating.

The video was capturing in 4K using a Sony A7r II. As the colors slowly dissolve, they start to bleed toward the edges, creating what looks like a human iris. Either that or gases in space expanding. Needless to say, it’s a beautiful sight.
