Welcome to the Jalopnik Weekend Motorsports Roundup, where we let you know what’s going on in the world of racing, where you can see it, and where you can talk about it all in one convenient place. Where else would you want to spend your weekend?
It might look like a pretty slow weekend at first, but we’ve got some big events coming up. Probably most prominent on our minds: the Indy 500. Qualifying takes place this weekend at the Speedway, and for the first time in years, we’re actually going to see some drivers get bumped. Traditionally, only 33 drivers start the race, and there are currently 35 entries—meaning that two people have to go. That’s pretty good news for a series that’s had additions of last-minute drivers like Buddy Lazier just to fill out the field. Tell us who you think we’re gonna see bumped in the comments.
