It may look very similar (and in many ways it is) to the outgoing Ford Mustang Shelby GT350, but the 2019 GT350 will have improved performance bits and special tires to make those lap times even faster. I wasn’t aware anything needed improvement, but here we are.
As a refresher, the 2019 GT350 will have upgraded aero, a re-tuned chassis and GT350-specific Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires. Power still comes from that nasty 5.2-liter, naturally aspirated V8, mated to a six-speed manual transmission. The car still makes a claimed 526 horsepower and 429 lb-ft of torque with an 8,250-rpm redline.
I’m going to test it out at the M1 race track in Michigan tomorrow and I am very much looking forward to it. I’ve tried out the Mustang GT Performance Pack 2 already and the GT350 should be that—but more.
Will that mean even more face-tearing awesomeness? Will I swallow my own teeth? Will I finally start believing in a higher power? Who’s to say!
