Where are the Infinity Stones – A guide to track the Stones in the MCU

After years of hearing about and seeing the Infinity Stones, it’s time for them to come into play in a big way.

Marvel has been teasing us about the Infinity Stones for some time now, but have yet to tell moving going audiences much about them. Only that each is powerful, and we know thanks to Lady Sif and Volstagg that it is unwise to store two of them together.

What happens when all six are brought together, though? Well, comics readers know that is never a good thing. And thanks to a mid-credits scene in Age of Ultron, we also know that Thanos has the gauntlet that can be joined together. Add in the fact two upcoming movies are entitled ‘Infinity War‘ and… you get the idea. Bad things are about to go down.

But, here’s the question: Where are they all? Several of the stones have been passed around so you can be forgiven if you aren’t entirely sure where each is at this moment, or even what each one is as the colors from the comics have been swapped around. Don’t worry, we’re here to help.

Space Stone

The Space Stone was the first introduction the movie-going audience had to the concept of the Infinity Stones. Introduced in Captain America: The First Avenger, this stone has had the most screen time of any of them as it also served as a key plot point in The Avengers. While it was returned to Asgard at the end of that film, with Loki having assumed the throne disguised as Odin in Thor: The Dark World, we can’t be sure it is still locked in an Asgardian vault.

• Last Seen: Taken to Asgard by Thor at the end of The Avengers.

Mind Stone

The introduction of the Mind Stone was unknown to the audience at the time, but it was in Loki’s scepter he used throughout The Avengers. It was next seen being used by Baron Wolfgang von Strucker in a credits scene of Captain America: The Winter Soldier to give powers to Wanda and Pietro Maximoff. Finally it was used in Avengers: Age of Ultron to give life to Ultron’s creation, The Vision.

• Last Seen: Placed in the head of The Vision in Avengers: Age of Ultron.

Reality Stone

Oddly we have never seen the Reality Stone in its stone form other than in the crash course The Collector gives to the Guardians as to what the stones are. In its only appearance in the films, in Thor: The Dark World, it is seen more as a liquid and is known as the Aether. In a credits scene it is seen being given to The Collector, but there is some question as to where it may be following the explosion of the Power Stone in Guardians of the Galaxy.

Power Stone

The Power Stone is passed around extensively in Guardians of the Galaxy, but is eventually given to the Nova Corps for safekeeping. More than likely it’s still there as we haven’t been back to space see anything else since the end of that film.

Time Stone

Soul Stone

• Color in the MCU: Yet to be seen – based on scene of the Guardians of the Galaxy presumed to be Green
• Color in the Comics: Green
• Last Seen: Not seen yet.
